I'm driving to california spring break from Austin, Texas and was planning on bringing a certain illegal plant along for the ride for myself to smoke on, but i wanted to know what the police checkpoints are like, how many there are, and if i'm a white 18 year old male, with a white 18 year old girlfriend in the car, would they search for drugs?|||I've driven from Georgia to California and never hit a checkpoint, I don't think they set up checkpoints on the interstate since it would cause a traffic jam that would make Los Angles traffic jams look like a nascar race. Your only problem would be when you enter cities or get pulled over.|||Sounds like a fantastic trip. Not sure when Spring Break is for you, but if you're there past St. Patrick's Day check out www.sxsw.com! If you are leaving San Diego County or Southern California, here's a few Checkpoints http://www.sandiegoduilawyer.c鈥?/a>

|||It is illegal to bring ANY home grown plant into California. It doesn't matter if it's your "certain illegal plant" or the begonia you gave your girlfriend for Valentine's Day. California is the bread basket of the nation and we take this very seriously. The little fun you want to bring here could have an insect or disease that could wipe out millions of dollars of produce. Do you want to be responsible for that?!?
- There are agricultural checkpoints when you enter California. Yes, that's correct - AGRICULTURAL checkpoints, that will check to make sure you are not bringing in any plants, fruits, or vegetables to California.

Just so you know, Texas and California are both in the US. The US does not have a practice of having police checkpoints except for DUI. Since both are also ALREADY in the US, there is no border checkpoints you drive through.|||if you take i 10 across there are at least 2 border patrol check points. they walk the dogs randomly around vehicles. its easier to just buy when you get to cali.

let me be clear on this. i did not say border check points, i said border patrol. that is where the border patrol has set up a permanent station where every vehicle has to stop. an agent will come to your window and ask everyone in the car if he/she is a us citizen. there are other agents walking around with dogs. i am a truck driver and ive made the trip several times. if you wish to believe someone else, then take your weed with you and take your chances.
