california: Many states will lose seats because congress is limited to 435 congressional seats. Because California has so many illegals now, they will have about 25% of all the congressmen. California will dominate Washington politics because of this. What say you?|||Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Each state has 2 Senators, the House is limited to 435. The original idea was to have no more than 30,000 Representatives but even if we expanded this to 50 or 60,000 there would be 5,000 members. I for one would be willing to give your state 1 representative for every 30,000 illegal immigrants that you take out of our state. I would give you Nancy Pelosi and both of our Senators (Feinstein and Boxer) as a show of good will. Hell I'll let you take those 3 and we can keep the illegals because without them here the illegals don't stand a chance of getting all the freebies that is crippling our state budget.|||They are counted because the 13 colonies wanted as much representation as they could get. So the decided to count slaves who were not citizens at the rate of 4/5th. The situation we have today where the federal government refuses to guard the boarders and deport illegals could have not been comprehended by the founding fathers. California is not projected to gain any. But it is law that every person be counted in the census, even if they are in this country illegally.|||I have not seen any prediction that California's population will grow that much compard to the 2000 census. From what I've seen, the state's population has been growing, but more slowly than the past decades, and it seems to me that the state will not gain even one more seat, which will be the first time that that has ever happened.|||i dont think so.
