So I am moving to California in 2013. And I am driving across the country. No moving vehicles either since I will be 18 and I will not have any furniture to move. About how much money would I need for gas?. I know gas prices can change a lot by then.|||Please stay in Ohio. There is NOTHING for an 18 year old in California. Actually living here is NOT like you see portrayed on stupid television programs. Instead of dreaming about California think about what college you want to attend.

California is one of the MOST expensive states to live in. NO 18 year old can earn enough to survive in California on their own. California currently has the 2d highest unemployment rate if the country, and jobs are almost impossible to find. Even if you were lucky enough to find a job it would probably be a minimum wage job, and you can NOT live in California on that small an income.

To have any chance of a successful move you would need $7,500 -$10,000 cash in hand just to get established, and that would barely last you 2 months. You would also need a job (if you can find one) that pays roughly $3,000 - $3,500 a month. Without a college degree that isn't going to happen because you would be competing with college grads for those jobs.

And PLEASE do NOT say you want to move here to "pursue your dream of becoming an actress". We already have LITERALLY a million wannabes already and more get off the bus every day. You would just be one more empty face in the crowd.
