I'm aware there is an animal law in California or at least in the Los Angeles County area. It says that you can't have over a specific number of animals (I'm not sure if one type or all in general). But anyways my question is, what is the number of animals that one can have in their home?

-My sisters and I were having a debate whether it was 6 or 7.|||Different areas of the state have different limits. LA County ordinances limit number of pets as follows:

No more than 3 dogs per household, which must be licensed, microchipped, and altered (spayed or neutered).
No more than 5 cats per household, which must be licensed, altered (spayed or neutered), and must be kept primarily indoors.

LA County has mandatory spay/neuter laws due to the massive overcrowding in their shelters and high euthanasia rates. You may not possess an intact dog over 6 months old without a special (and expensive) breeding license. To exceed the per-household limits, you must apply for and be granted an animal facility license.
