california: Does anyone live in California? What is it like to live there? what are the pro's and cons about living there? i'm just wondering because it seems like a nice place to live! thanks for all the anwsers!|||The cost of living is extremely high in this state. I am from Northern California-- the Bay Area specifically, and rent is very high there. A studio in the suburban areas can go for $1200. Same goes for Southern california. The cost of gas is higher here than most places. It's around 3.45 in Orange County right now. On the bright side, the weather is beautiful, there is always something to do!|||i lived in cali. for 11 years...bad years!!lots of drugs,thugs and bad payin jobs the rents high and i could go on and on glad i left.|||Depends on where in cali you live..its not small like some east states..But it its the most diverse, and the only state where you can go to the beach, drive, be in the desert, drive more, and be in snow all in one day..lol. So it really depends but its pretty cool sometimes..cant really type up all the pros and cons because it would take forever the best thing to do would be to come here and visit a few times your self (a few diff visits at diff times in different cities)|||im so happy you asked! well theres NoCal and SoCal. and they might as well be seprate states, they are so different. well i live in SoCal. pros:: -pretty much sunny weather a good majority of the year -quite a bit of stuff to do -near One of the biggest cities in the country, so lots of opportunities -close to every kind of terrain [beach, dessert, mountains] -lots of intresting people -L.A. has so much cultur -good schools Cons:: -SMOG pretty much every single day any where in Southern California -california is nothing like "the O.C." -Alot of people in Orange County [o.c.] are really stuck up -the suburbs are super boring and all the house are 5 feet apart and exactly alike -everyone wears the same clothes as each other [hollister, abercrombie, AEO] -we dont really have a winter or much of fall. sometimes it still in the 90s late into october -alot of people are really fake. -housing is expensive -you get critisized jsut by what area code you live in. -Gang violence - our local news sucks. our top stories are usualy about Paris Hilto an her D.U.I.s as you can see there is probably more cons and pros, but i love southern california, and probably will never move from it.|||cali is the bestes place to live evereverever!!! luv it!!! so fun beautiful and tons of hottie guys!!! plus da beach rox!!!|||yes i live in cali...i think its awesome here since i live near the beach. i just hope i lived near l.a. where the weather is warmer. i live in san fran and the weather here is pretty foggy. but overall cali is a great place to live. u shud visit some time to see.|||I live there. I live in Northern California. California is very big so there is a lot to it. First of all, there's Northern California and Southern California. Southern California has a lot more kind of "fake" people, hot weather and people obsessed with labels and money. Northern California is far more liberal, which is cool. I live in the Bay Area.. It's nice because a lot of people live here. It's close to the beach.. There are a million Starbucks's. I live a little in the country but it's not isolated at all. A lot of people are into recycling. There are a lot of sandwich shops. But beware, there are places you don't want to go.. Like hot places in the desert and stuff. Los Banos is isolated and yucky.. Eureka, nothing there. Victorville is pretty dead. Hollister is a motorcycle rally town.. The best places I think are beach towns or nice cities like Carmel, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, San Diego, etc. Overall California is much more liberal than the rest of the country. People are often more open minded.. There are more vegetarians. It's a bit like a warmer Washington.. Did you know California has the 5th largest economy in the world? It's a great place to live. Pros: Shopping is great Usually not isolated at all Great weather Open minded people Good ethnic food, coffee shops, and sandwich shops Many beach towns Recycling All fruits and vegetables available anytime! Cons: Poor public transportation system (A car almost a necessity) Smog in some cities (Not everywhere. There are towns with gorgeous blue skies!) Snobby people, esp. in SoCal Cost of living is high|||Pros: great weather, food, diversity, attractions, scenery, excitment. Cons: horrible traffic, smog, and lack of affordable housing.|||California is a beautiful state.Lots of historical places to visit and recreation.Also Yosemite is there.Very country carefree state.No cons at all, there are also lots of great fruits and vegatables here.|||I don't anymore, but I did live there for most of my life. The great things are the shopping (great shopping in San Jose) and authentice fantastic ethnic food (Jalisco's in San Jose for Mexican!). The cons are definitely the cost of living & crime rates. Also, depending on where you choose, they can be really run-down parts of town. Others are gorgeous and fanstastic, but outrageously expensive. Cali is also a great place to work, because just about any degree can work there, because there's SO many people there, there's a demand for everything. I also loved the weather. It got in the 100's in the summer and never got much colder than high 50's. The weather is great for wearing shorts & tanks! Again, the down-side is the smog & pollution. the sky is gray (literally) and there are entire days devoted to not driving in an effort to reduce the pollution. California is either FANTASTIC or TERRIBLE, depending on what you like & what you want. If they don't have a stylist, they get on the worst dressed list. They have to go to NYC and Paris to shop as everything out their way is trendy and so Not "hot" that it makes Paris Gag. Weather can be nice but traffic is miserable and you have to have a car. Just not worth it. Do dual homes in Manhattan and South Beach Miami instead.|||cali cali. gotta love it here. wonderful weather mountains are 30 min one way beach is 30 min another.
