Some people like to experiment with the mathematical models to see what sort of storms can be created with a "perfect' environment of their own choosing. The initial parametrization is skewed towards very unrealistic values that one never sees in the atmosphere. This creates a storm that is mathematically and physically correct but virtually impossible. I wouldn't say it can't happen, just with our current understanding of nature very improbable. Another one that I have heard about is the hail the size of 33 gallon size garbage cans. It also could happen according to the mathematical models in the "perfect" environment but so far the largest hail stone ever recorded isn't even 5 percent of that size. So is it possible, according to the model yes. Will it every happen, not very likely.
