I would like to have a career in law enforcement but testing at some departments is too competitive and chances are like zero. My question is which departments in California require a college degree in order to become an officer. Will be finishing my bachelor's soon & hopefully have a better opportunity than the rest of the competition.|||Most of the larger police departments in California such as the Los Angeles Police Department and the San Diego Police Department don't require candidates to have any college. Many, such as the California Highway Patrol, prefer candidates to have college. The San Jose Police Department and the Irvine Police Department are examples of police departments in California that require some college. Your degree will help you get hired. It could also help you get promoted later during your career. best of luck!|||ALL of them have a 60 college units minimum requirement.|||Choose another career. Officers always get in the way of people and their desires. Just because something is illegal doesn't make it bad. Example: rape.|||You need a degree to eat donuts. Nothing is simple anymore!|||Flipping burgers at micky Ds
