Im really wanting to become a great actress, but i need to know where a good acting school is to continue on to after high school in or around California. What i know i need to work on is being confident in front of crowds. Im still a little shy and my voice cracks alot. Any suggestions???|||You do not need one based on who else they turned out. You need to make a list of questions that are important to you, make some copies of that quiestionnaire, then make some phone calls. Ask who the teachers are, where they received their training, what their practical experience is, what class you would be placed in, do they allow auditing (can you take a free class to see if you like it), etc. Whether they teach a specific method, if you have to sign a contract locking you into a certain amount of time... stuff like that. Call several studios and whoever gives you answers you like, try them out.
From what you've described it sounds like you should be in Speech & Debate in HS. That will help you get over some of your issues. Acting class isn't necessarily the place to do that.
As for where to find these classes, the best ones are found by word of mouth. Otherwise, look for ads in trade papers like Backstage, Variety, etc. You can also look here: http://www.workingactors.com/cgi-bin/pag鈥?/a> You need to check out any place thoroughly before paying them anything. NO places like John Robert Powers, Barbizon, John Casablancas, etc.
good luck,
Marianne
