Since you will be in Orange County, spend at least one day at the beach. I recommend "Huntington Beach". Lots to do there.

Long Beach is not far away and you may like, to see "the Queen Mary" or "The Aquarium of the Pacific", and the "Pike" (an amusement park). I'm not too sure if a 13 year old would like going to Catalina Island or not, but the boat ride over is really cool.

Just know that the "real" California is not like what you see on T.V. & the movies, so at your age I would stay away from Hollywood for now. The streets are not paved with gold, and you won't see celebrities on every corner. You can return when you get older to visit there.|||Go to Disneyland, and Magic Mountain. the beaches are cool, and cruise around Hollywood. Have Fun!|||Hi,
I moved to CA from MI in '86, lived in San Diego until moving north of there to Ontario, CA. San Diego is a beautiful city, with Balboa Park and zoo, Sea World (a must!), Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, LaJolla (hang gliding, a super clean beach and upscale shopping), Old Town.
In the Los Angeles area there are: Disneyland (too many cool places to mention - you'd love it all), Knotts Berry Farm, Beverly Hills (drive past some mansions), Universal Studios (fun) in Hollywood.
You can cruise out to Santa Catalina Island, 26 miles off the coast (it's beautiful).
The area by Big Sur is fantastic (huge cliffs dropping to the ocean). Big Sur is the farthest north I've been in the state.
Someday I want to see the tall redwood trees and explore the wine growing regions in the north.
If you like deserts, there are Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Mojave and Death Valley.
Too much to see and do! Have a great trip! 鈽?br> p.s. The In n' Out Arian is referring to has great burgers.|||I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific, California's a big place :-)|||go to a place called in and out|||first off either go to the coast, los angeles, or the mountains. i live in the central valley in the middle of nowhere. when i went to d.c. everyone freaked out and thought i lived next door to a movie start. just don't thinkt that california is all amazing and better than you'll expect, because it's just another state.
