california: Someone I know is visiting California in June and wants to change her plans because of California being gloomy and foggy the whole month of June. She thinks that the sun will only shine for 2 hours and the trip will be miserable. How true is this? She will be in the Los Angeles, Lancaster, areas|||Both will be hot, with Lancaster being in the Mojave desert even more so. Foggy? In LA it is smoggy almost all the time. She must be confusing the area with Spokane or Portland. It isn't gloomy, but fine for the beach. Lancaster is too far out from the wonderful traffic and shipyards in Long Beach and LA - 70 miles to have smog.|||OK, which is it? Los Angeles or Lancaster? If it's Lancaster, it's going to be HOT. The fog doesn't reach that far. If it's LA, the fog varies from year to year and even from day to day. It's a crapshoot that even the weather people cannot predict accurately. Frankly, I don't mind it at all. Because I know it's going to be HOT in July and August, and I welcome the cool temps.|||I live in Lancaster and traval around Southern California all the time. The weather in LA and Lancaster will be pretty much the same. Definitely HOT, but don't expect any fog or gloom. Ventura and Oxnard will be quite a bit cooler because they're on the beach and you may experience a little bit of fog, but it will still be warm enough to wear shorts 'n' a tee. I say, tell your friend to come and have a blast! I love California! :)|||Los Angeles is pretty much always sunny in June. In the morning, it can be sort of hazy, so when your friend wakes up she will think the day is going to be cloudy. However, that haze usually burns off late morning or around lunchtime. June is GREAT beach weather. She'll miss out if she passes up her June trip! That's prime California time!|||It is foggy over most of Southern California for most of the day most of June (we call it "June Gloom"). If you have the beach in mind, then So Cal is not the place to be in June. Lancaster is very deep inland and is the High Desert. In June, it is sunny and HOT most of the time.|||Southern California is really overcast in June. I don't know about those other cities, though.
