It seems as though every time I visit California I see artists selling their art- charicatures, portraits, paintings, etc. As an artist myself this looks like a fun way to earn some money. Do you have to get any sort of license to do this in California? Would it be legal for someone to do this if they're not a California resident and they're just visiting and want to make some money?|||1. you need to go to the Business License Department of the local city (in the City Hall) to obtain street vendor's permit.
2. you may need to obtain a sales & use tax license from the Franchise Tax Board in Sacramento.|||You could try by asking the other artists that sell on the street, or you can try by asking the Police, since it usually differs depending on the state.
