I'm watching 30 days, Morgan Spurlocks show, and he did one show about guns. The guys in Ohio I beleive, have a permit to carry a consealed firearm. How does that work in California?|||It depends on where you live in California. California's concealed carry law is "may issue," which means whether a given person gets one or not is entirely up to the whim of their local chief law enforcement officer (Chief of Police or Sheriff). Some jurisdictions hand them out like candy. Many don't issue at all. Some are in between. In a few, I'm told, you can get one by making a $5000 contribution to the Sheriff's re-election campaign fund.

If you do manage to get one, it's valid throughout the state, so far, but only your local CLEO can issue to you.

It is technically legal to openly carry an unloaded handgun in a holster. If you try it, the local law enforcement officers will likely find many other ways to make your life miserable. It's a stupid thing to do anyway. In California, "unloaded" means "no ammunition usefully available." There are few things less useful and more dangerous to their possessor than an openly carried, unloaded handgun. They don't even make good clubs.|||Your state conceaed carry is "may issue" which means unless you got connections or are famous or a politico or aid to one your **** out of luck. Even if you do every requirement they ask of, pass every class, every test, they will still deny you. The entire state give out 500 a year. out of what, 60+ million people.

Ohio Is "shall issue" which means after you pass the 12 hour or so class you have to go through you get a certificate, you mail it with a copy or 2 (a lot of states are doing 2 because there are so many applications coming in) to the state attorney general (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and after 2-3 months you get your CCW.

Open carry is prohibited for the most part in your state, there are excpetions. Only some places and the gun needs to be unloaded with magazine separate. Open carry in many state is you have a gun in a proper holster, visible, and it can be loaded. Can't carry in government buildings, schools, 1000' of the school (though no one has ever been to court if they have been caught unless they were arrested for something else) or to any buisnesses that put the defenseless victim sign on their window.|||Why would you ever need or want a firearm in the People's Paradis of Kalifornia? I am told it is the absolute perfect society. Because nobody is allowed to have guns - there is no murder, rape, robbery or problems with drugs.

Me - I live in Alaska. We have no gun laws. No permits. Anything the feds allow, we allow. Ok, there is one - you can't carry a concealed firearm into a courthouse or state building.|||California law allows the open carry of an unloaded handgun, but in much of the state I suspect you would spend a great deal of time discussing the law with officers. Concealed carry permits may be issued at the discretion of the sheriff of the county in which you reside. As I recall, the permit is only valid in that county.|||This site is about open carry in california http://www.californiaopencarry.org/faq.h鈥?/a>
And this one is about US Hand gun laws http://www.handgunlaw.us/
HOPE IT HELPS YOU|||it really does suck in this state.|||I thought it was illegal unless you are something like a cop or fbi
