I will be moving to Japan to work and was wondering if I have to pay California state taxes. Thanks.|||You do not have to pay state income tax if you work overseas for longer than 6 months and 1 day. It also depends on weather the company you work for is based in the US or not.
Talk to your CPA for more details.|||I'm almost positive that the answer is no. California income tax is paid on wages that are earned while working in California.
