I'm from Washington but I might want to go to school in California eventually. How long do you have to live in California to qualify to be a citizen so I can pay the in-state citizen tuition?|||You have to have been a resident for at least a year and a day:

To establish California residence, an adult student at least 18 years of age must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, other immigrant, or eligible alien who meets all of the following requirements:

鈻爃as been physically present in the state for 366 days prior to the residence determination date (RDD) of the term for which he or she wishes to be considered a resident
鈻爃as the intent to make California his or her home (as opposed to coming to California for the purpose of attending school)
鈻爄s financially independent (see note) if his or her parents are not California residents as defined by UC.|||You mean resident. California requires one year of residency for in state tuition but 30 days for most other issues concerning residency..|||NOrmally after 90 days you are considered a resident but for tuition purposes I'm pretty sure you'd have to be here a year.|||I think they're called "residents".|||You won't like it here, try Kansas.
