I have a car that was built without seatbelts. Is it legal in California to drive it?|||Look on the driver's door post. If there is a sticker that says, "This vehicle meets or exceeds all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in effect at the time of manufacture", you're good to go. It must be a classic to be old enough to have been built without belts, since they've been required since 1964.|||http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc2鈥?/a>
this may answer the question|||I believe if it didn't come from the factory with them, you do not have to fit them...
Missouri and Kentucky law is that way....|||vehicles built without seat belts are not required to have them.|||If OEM I mean Original Equipment Manufacturer didn't fitted it, then you need not to fit them. Its not your fault.
